'Coral Dawn' 1999 May 17

I ordered the climber 'Etoile de Holland' from from Heirloom Old Garden Roses, but they sent 'Coral Dawn' in error, even though it was labeled correctly. The plant was quite vigorous and healthy, climbing to about nine feet with very stiff and thorny canes. The canes were to be wrapped around a pillar, but it was quite impossible since they were far too stiff and inflexible. The blooms were scarce, and the Hy. Tea form is not my favorite. Wrong form for the purpose I had in mind. I shovel pruned this plant and mailed it to a friend about two years after I planted it. I replaced it with the wichurana rambler 'Alexander Girault' the spring of 2002.
